Fulfillment Update #1: Snowy Cherry

Hello Everyone!

In this update we will cover what we've been doing these past few weeks and how the fulfillment of Tao Long is coming along.

Air Shipments

As we said in the past update we went with Air Shipments for the US, Europe and Ground for Asia. The pallets weren't ready until the week of Dec 7th since the factory found that a batch was somehow wrongly assembled. They were picked up by Dec 11th.

That being said, the status of fulfillment has been so far the following:

North America

We found a forwarder for the US right away that so far has been the best forwarder we've ever used, period, I haven't encountered any forwarder that replied in minutes or even seconds after an email was sent, with what seemed like 10 employees from China and their office in California overseeing the shipment and keeping me updated.

The pallets were delivered to them by Dec 12th, they loaded it into a plane the same day, the route was PVG > ICN > ATL > MCO with Korean Air as the airline, we cleared customs in 2 hours including unload time from the airplane just after it landed in the US in Dec 14th, sadly the truck from Atlanta couldn't make it on time to our warehouse but it was delivered at 12:54PM the next day.

Yesterday we received the Pro-Forma for the shipments, everything is being barcoded and packed and by the time our payment clears in the following 2 days they should start shipping everything on Thursday.

I'm currently arranging everything for a Canadian shipment and still waiting for confirmation, but in the worst case scenario we would be shipping from the US and covering any customs fees ourselves if there are any.

Mexico is directly covered by our US warehouse, our next projects will be fulfilled from within Mexico.

Asia

Our warehouse in Fujian received the games not so long ago, they are currently packing everything and will probably start shipping by the end of the week, we are using SF-Express for the following countries/regions: China, Hong Kong, Macao, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, the rest will be covered by EMS/China Post.

Europe

We didn't find a forwarder capable of sending the games to Europe except for FedEx, all other forwarders didn't have the capability to even attempt it since there are a lot of backlog in European airports and do connections is almost impossible because of the weather conditions most of the continent is having, FedEx Trade Networks is thankfully gigantic enough to have a direct flight from China to Spain with the airline Iberia Lineas Aereas de España (Flight IB6888), they had to do an inspection for magnets which delayed the flight a whole day, but it is already in Spain and currently clearing customs, we should be receiving an invoice for that very shortly.

Our warehouse is waiting to receive it and they will start packing everything immediately after receiving the cargo as it is their only game to fulfill.

Post-Production Update #2: The Everlasting Dragon

Hello Everyone,

This is a quick update on what's been happening during the past weeks!

We've spent countless hours with our manufacturer making sure that everything is where it should be, be it by phone, email or even smoke signals.

During the past two weeks, we were sent several videos from them showing us the contents of each edition, so we could make sure that everything was being assembled correctly and the boxes won't have neither missing components inside them or components that shouldn't be there to begin with; we were also sent a video of the assembly line!.


In the playlist above you can see three videos on which we approved the assembly, definitely a lot faster than FedEx from China to wherever some of us might be at a given moment every time they changed something.

According to the manufacturer, the pallets should be ready this Friday, everything will be shipped by Air and we should start shipping early December.

As soon as everything is on the Air we will post another update to let everyone know!

Post-Production Update #1: Black or White

Hello everyone, hope you are doing great.

Three weeks have passed since our last update, but we bring excellent news!

We want to thank you for your incredible support and patience towards us. Being able to go to Spiel, Lucca Comics and games and soon to PAX Unplugged has been a great experience for the growth of the company and we will always be in debt with you.

We had a great time showing our games and seeing people have so much fun in our booth. And we also got super positive compliments from the press! Even Zee talked about us in one of their latest Dice Tower Vlogs!

 

As our token of appreciation we feel like sending the games as faster as possible is the best way to partially repay your incredible support. So that bring us to the good news!

Shipping changes

To begin with, due to the incredible delays this project has suffered through the entire year, due primarily to the extreme difficulty in its production, of which thankfully we've learned a great deal, we are no longer shipping this game via sea freight.

This means we are now using air freight as the method of shipment from China to several different warehouses in different continents because otherwise we wouldn't be able to deliver this game in 2017, which is a thing that we no longer consider an option; it is now safe to say that shipping the games in early December is totally within reach. In our next update we will have more information about this.

Spiel Essen and Games’ Assembly

As you may remember from our past update, we sent over 50 copies to Essen, which is pretty much all the copies from the production for KS we managed to have assembled by that specific moment in time so they could be picked-up in our booth by 50 backers and also have their copy signed by the team, and perhaps an illustration drawn in the inside of the box.

Thing is, it didn't go exactly as planned, soon after handing those over, we discovered that those copies had… issues, critical issues, the production was perfectly fine whatsoever, the issue was the assembling, several components were missing, mainly all the wooden stones (Fire, Water and Ba Gua stones) as well as KS exclusives.

We had a reunion with the manufacturer the next day and we were told that those copies were assembled in a rush to make it on time for the fair, something we shouldn't have allowed in the first place, and that’s why those had missing components, but they weren't completely sure about what is in what edition of the game, something that while we've clarified several times they still get confused after a lot of time has passed, which is understandable.

We are making sure that everything is where it should be and this is the reason why we are no longer shipping via sea freight as it would make a delivery this year impossible. Assembling should end during the next week, and the games will be shipped by Air soon afterwards.

We can’t be more grateful for the understanding not only during this issue, but during the whole production, we are almost there and we are sure the wait will be worth it.

Production Update #12: The Clear Blue Sky

Hello Everyone!

This is the final production update, next updates are going to cover all about freight and shipping!

General Production

Mass production is over, this production has been the most difficult by far, we went above and beyond with this one and we learned a lot from it, other productions we've been working on, including Dead Man's Doubloons, have been extremely more streamlined thanks to Tao Long's production.

Spiel Essen Pick-up

 

We did it!, kind of, we've managed to send around 50 Deluxe copies to Essen with FedEx freight, they are still on their way but they should arrive on time for the first day.

Since we have such limited stock, we will work with a first come first serve basis, but a little bit differently, since we can't really check on-spot to confirm your pledge we will need to confirm that you are going to pick it up by email.

So, all you have to do is send an email to [email protected] and in the body include your full name and email used at the moment of backing Tao Long, we will add your name to the list and you will need to show your passport or another government issued ID at our booth (Hall 2 - F116) to receive your copy.

We will retain shipping costs to cover the Air shipment, send any add-ons to your home address if you have any, and KS exclusives as well.

Shipping

We will give more information about this in our next update, but a good estimate would be 3-5 weeks for the games to arrive to our warehouses around the world (US, EU, AU, CA and Asia) and around another week while all the games are being sent out depending on our partners capabilities.

Production Update #11: The Dragons' Sequence

Hi there!

It is that time of the month again!, in this update we will walk you through the latest news for Tao Long!

Playmat

We received the playmats from the manufacturer to approve it early this week, and we did, so the playmats are already on their way to the the main factory ready to start packing everything up.

In the all-new playmat there is more contrast, colors are more accentuated and more importantly they don't clash with the colors of the wooden pieces, so they are definitely worthy of a deluxe edition. 

Delay

As you might have noticed we are already at early October, packing and sea freight takes a while so the game is delayed until next month.

We are almost there!

Other Projects Delay

As an unspoken company policy we adopted last year, we decided that we wouldn't run more than 2 campaigns in a year if we haven't delivered at least 1 of those already, so that means that Spirits of the Forest isn't going to launch on Kickstarter in October, or this year for that matter.

Spirits of the Forest has been delayed to January, the condition to get Pot de Vin for free by backing that project is unaffected and Spirits of the Forest will also count as the first game of the year to get a game for free by backing all our projects of next year.  

In the video above Gonzalo gives a more insightful explanation and how it will benefit all our projects starting next year, so viewing that is highly recommended.
